Human Research Subjects

Radiation

The Radiation Safety Program is responsible for ensuring that all users of ionizing radiation and radiation producing machines are in compliance with existing regulatory requirements. All radioactive materials at É«ÖÐÉ« are licensed by the State of California. This license grants authority to the É«ÖÐÉ« Radiation Safety Committee to authorize the use of radioactive materials at any of its facilities. Radiation producing machines are registered by the California Radiologic Health Branch and must also be authorized by the É«ÖÐÉ« Radiation Safety Committee. Biosafety

Biosafety is the discipline that addresses the safe handling and containment of biological materials to protect workers, the public, agriculture, and the environment from exposure to infectious agents or biohazardous materials that may cause disease or other detrimental effects in humans, plants, or animals. IACUC

É«ÖÐÉ« has established an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to function as the review body responsible for approval and oversight of activities involving the use of vertebrate animals at É«ÖÐÉ« in accordance with federal requirements. Hazardous Waste

Hazardous waste management is the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal of waste materials. Our Waste Management program help you manage hazardous chemical, radioactive, biohazardous, and universal waste safely and legally. The proper management of hazardous waste is essential to protect the health and safety of the College community and to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
