Bridget R. Cooks, Associate Professor in the School of Humanities at University of California, Irvine, and author of Exhibiting Blackness, will lead a tour of Gray’s exhibition that interrogates the history of Black art in museums and discuss what is needed in order to create a space of representation that doesn’t tap into the historical pitfalls of creating corrective narratives or anthropological approaches.
