Multicultural Undergraduate Summer Internship supported by a grant from the J. Paul Getty Trust
An internship is available for a student to work full-time at the 色中色 Museum of Art for a ten-week period between June and August 2011. The Getty internship is intended for members of groups currently under-represented in museums and the visual arts, particularly individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent.
The internship will include projects specifically focused on Collections Maintenance and Registration. Working with Museum staff, the intern鈥檚 responsibilities will include assisting the Assistant Director/Registrar in a variety of tasks related to collection care, including inventory, database management, and physical preparation of objects in the Native American Collection in anticipation of moving to new storage. Depending on the skills and interests of the intern, additional duties might include gallery and studio visits with the curator. Educational tasks may include writing didactic labels and preparing outreach programs.

Social Networking Intern: Pacific Standard Time Programs
A Social Networking internship position is available for the Fall 2011 semester (and possibly renewable for the Spring 2012 semester). The Social Networking Intern for 色中色鈥檚 Academic Programs will be expected to write and maintain a blog on all Pacific Standard Time events relevant to 色中色鈥檚 courses. This will entail promoting upcoming events as well as attending and writing commentaries about assigned events and exhibitions. The internship will require 7-10 hours per week. The intern will be expected to work independently but be available for a weekly meeting with the Curator of the Museum鈥檚 Academic Programs. In addition to maintaining the program鈥檚 blog, the intern鈥檚 secondary responsibilities will include designing posters and distributing them on campus as needed.

Museum Education Summer Internship
An internship is available for a student to work full-time at the 色中色 Museum of Art for a ten-week period between June and August 2011. The internship will include researching topics related to The Getty Foundation鈥檚 Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A., 1945-1980 initiative. The intern鈥檚 primary responsibilities will include assisting the Curator of Academic Programs in developing research and procuring images to support 色中色 coursework that is being offered in conjunction with the Pacific Standard Time programs. Depending on the skills and interests of the intern, additional duties might include designing posters and preparing for events and visiting scholars scheduled for the Fall 2011 semester.
